Beach bars in Mykonos
By

Mykonos is often referred to as Greece’s answer to Ibiza, not because of its banging clubs but because of its beach bars – where the party starts in the afternoon and lasts until long after sunrise. The island boasts a laid-back energy and champions alfresco soirees away from the magnum-fuelled nightlife. Think rosé lunches, boozy brunches, charming beach bars and holistic sandy beach clubs.

1. Scorpios

Spend the day lounging on a sun bed, move effortlessly to the beach bar for a cocktail and world beats at sundown, and end the evening enjoying dinner at the relaxed Greek restaurant, dancing to the best DJs on the island spinning ‘sunset ritual’ sets.

2.  Alemàgou.

In the words of the owners, Alemàgou is a “bohemian setting you wouldn’t expect to find in Mykonos. Originally laid-back yet eclectic, totally relaxed yet elegant, both remote and cosmopolitan, rough yet refined.” Follow a dirt road past a wind-swept beach and you’ll feel like you’ve landed on a remote island. It’s the definition of barefoot chic for windsurfers, Gucci caftans, and eensy-weensy Dior bikinis.

3. Nammos

Nammos has been attracting the jet-set crowd to its white-washed restaurant by the sea for years. Expect flowing champagne, beautiful beach bodies dancing on tables, designer shades, and all the latest hits. The crowd varies between fashionable locals in the off-season to August’s glitterati scene. Go to the restaurant for lunch and keep your table until the sunset festivities begin.

4. Caprice

A living legend, for more than 30 years it is considered the definition of summertime and fun and regarded as a trend setter in Greek entertainment and dining. Expect loud music, shots of alcohol, people dancing in their beachwear and swinging from the shutters. It’s known as an ideal spot to witness the dramatic Mykonian sunset.

5. Principauté de Mykonos

A newcomer to the Mykonos beach bar scene, Principauté opened in 2016 on Panormos beach, oozing bohemian chic. Think Dubai on the Med with its comfy beach beds, a delicious restaurant, a relaxed bar, boutique shop, and valet parking. And the music starts pumping early on, giving this beach a party feel all day long.
