Alexander McQueen opens first store in Monaco

Alexander McQueen has announced the opening of a standalone store in Place du Casino, the luxury shopping area of Monaco.

Spread over 2 floors, the 2100 square foot store will offer the complete McQueen shopping experience with a selection of runway, commercial and accessories pieces from both men’s and womenswear. Customers will be able to shop for seasonal items as well as iconic McQueen pieces such as the skull scarves and knucklebox clutches from the house.

There are subtle references to Alexander McQueen signatures throughout the store. In particular, the curved seams of a heritage tailored jacket and the “armadillo” shoe are echoed within the plaster panel mouldings.

“Alexander McQueen Monaco will see the interior concept evolving to work alongside the organic and sculptural architecture of the building, in this most prestigious of locations”, explains Simon Rawlings, Creative Director at David Collins Studio who helped fashion the concept. “As you enter the store you are greeted by central circular fixtures, marble floors and curved walls flowing into a sweeping staircase which draws you up to the first floor. At the top of the stairs, and within the peak of the room, a circular space with an array of signature panels, houses the ready to wear and accessories collections under the spherical roof”.

“It’s important to us that everything in the stores feels very precious.”  says Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton. “It’s very McQueen to see something from a distance and think it’s one thing and then to look up close and discover something else.”

Alexander McQueen’s Monaco boutique can be found at No. 10, Pavilion 5, Jardin des Boulingrins, Monaco.
