The prestigious Miami Beach development, ‘The Surf Club Hotel and Residences’ due to complete in 2016, combines the restoration of a historic 1920s Miami landmark with cutting edge architecture by renowned architect Richard Meier.
Located in Surfside between Bal Harbour and Miami Beach on an eight acre plot with 815ft of beach front, The Surf Club Hotel and Residences will comprise a five-star hotel and 157 private residences as well as a host of exclusive amenities.
The Surf Club originally opened as a private members club in 1929. In subsequent years, the elegant Mediterranean Revival villa designed by noted Miami architect Russell Pancoast, played host to a number of world figures including The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Winston Churchill, Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra.
Richard Meier is responsible for the interior architecture and fittings of the apartments, using his signature modern aesthetic to create luxurious and open living spaces. Residences will range from 845 to over 7,500 square feet, with select apartments also encompassing private swimming pools and elevator landings, interior gardens and staff quarters.
The five-star hotel operator will be providing residents with a complete range of services and access to a wealth of amenities. Owners will also benefit from the opportunity to use the facilities at the reinstated Surf Club, including two restaurants, a spa, swimming pool and acres of pristine white sand beach complete with 48 serviced cabanas, emblematic of bygone Miami glamour.
