Bahrain will celebrate it’s 10th anniversary this year as it hosts the third grand prix of the 2014 Formula One season, which started in Australia on 16 March and concludes in Abu Dhabi on 23 November.
This year’s competition, the 65th season of the Formula One World Championship, sees the introduction of a revised engine formula, in which the 2.4 litre V8 engine configuration –previously used between 2006 and 2013 – will be replaced with a new formula specifying a 1.6 litre turbocharged V6 engine.
The Bahrain International Circuit is honouring F1 legend Michael Schumacher as part of its 10th anniversary, which will also be the BIC’s first Formula 1 night race on 6th April 2014, having announced that it is to name the first corner of the BIC track after Schumacher. Schumacher, who won the inaugural Bahrain Grand Prix in 2004 – and still holds the lap record – won an unprecedented seven world championships during his illustrious career.
