Restaurant review: Mamounia Lounge, Mayfair
By

When Mamounia Lounge, a Middle Eastern restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Mayfair invited us for dinner after their recent re-opening, we couldn’t resist the offer.

On walking into Mamounia Lounge, the first thing that struck us was the luxurious décor, which was an incredible result of a truly lavish re-furbishment. Colorful and comfortable, the opulent gold embellished surroundings are supposed to transport you to an exotic evening in the Middle East and we certainly felt that to be true.

Fellow diners were a smart yet friendly and diverse mix of couples on dates, families and groups of friends and even on a Thursday evening, the venue had that Friday feeling with everyone in good spirits.

With helpful recommendations from the waiter – we dined on delicious courses of hummous, calamari, charcoal cooked meats and our favourite dish, the Mamounia signature rice which was richly flavoursome.

The menu at Mamounia Lounge interprets classic Arabic dishes with Mayfair flair, showcasing Head Chef Ramdane Djebarri’s mastery of traditional cooking methods. His kitchen we were told combines the best of Moroccan and Lebanese cuisines, from tagines in traditional clay pots to honeyed bites of Baklawa.

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, food and hospitality and would recommend Mamounia Lounge if you’re looking to spice up your evening in Mayfair.
