Having rested since the 2008 harvest, this blend of leaves could only be fantastic when finally put together – mellow, creamy and full of sweet and delicate flavours, it blends superbly with the Tennessee favourite adding in cereal sweetness and toffee notes.
5. MONTECRISTO 520 & MACALLAN ‘Triple cask matured’ 21 yo
To celebrate the 520th anniversary of the discovery of tobacco, Montecristo released its heavy ring gauge Edition Limitada 2012, a bittersweet masterpiece with vanilla notes that blend perfectly with the beautiful roundness and smoothness of the 21 year old single malt.
6. HOYO DE MONTERRAY GRAND EPICURE L.E. 2013 & TATTINGER BRUT RESERVE
A pleasure not to be missed for lovers of Hoyo de Monterray. Creamy and sweet with a touch of spice, the classic complexity of Hoyo de Monterray is ideally enjoyed with this elegant brut champagne which matches the cigar’s light flavour and counter-balances the sweet notes with its high acidity.
7. ROMEO Y JULIETTA DE LUXE L.E. 2013 & HAVANA CLUB 15 yo GRAN RESERVA
A nostalgia-satisfying Romeo Y Julieta produced in limited edition for 2013. This 54 ring gauge vitola was created to resemble the Duke L.E. 2009, another much-loved cigar, yet in its own right manages to achieve a high-quality smoke. Indulge in an hour or so of lovely leather and cocoa notes with floral hints that go pleasantly with the rich and dry flavour of the Havana Club, full of dark fruit flavours – that flies the flag of Cuba wonderfully.
8. BOLIVAR PETIT BELLICOSOS L.E. 2009 & LAGAVULIN 16 yo
A delight for those who manage to track it down, this cigar was made in limited numbers and is a beautifully-refined and full-bodied Bolivar jewel. The cigars hearty flavour grows throughout the smoke; sweet and soft chocolate notes, matched with good, spicy Cuban flavours are perfectly complimentary by the full, peat-smoked flavour and dry notes of the popular southern Islay Scotch whisky.
9. COHIBA PIRAMIDES EXTRA & HIBIKI SINGLE MALT
This figurado cigar is the latest addition to the Linea Classica of Cohiba. The subtle earthiness of espresso and Leather and the richness of exotic woody notes are counterbalanced by notes of caramel, raisin and hints of citrus for a rich and satisfying smoke.
10. H. UPPMAN ROBUSTO L.E. 2012 & HIBIKI SUNTORY 17 yo
A good robusto for an easy and enjoyable 40-minute smoke. Light to medium in flavour, this cigar carries the creamy and velvety characteristics of H.Uppmans cigar with notes of sweet oak and pepper to match the long oak and cocoa finish of the delightful Japanese whisky.
