Kate Moss: 40 – A Retrospective, Imitate Modern, London, 17 Jan – 15 Feb 2014
By

A retrospective art exhibition by journalist turned artist Russell Marshall celebrating the career of British supermodel Kate Moss takes place between 17 January and 15 February this year. The exhibition will be hosted at London’s Imitate Modern art gallery with a special preview on 16 January to coincide with Kate’s 40th birthday.

Having acquired the rights to iconic images of Moss from ages 14-40, Marshall has created canvases reminiscent of the pop art movement made famous by Andy Warhol. Each image is available in ten colour combinations producing 100 unique screen-printed images, original, stamped and signed by the artist.

One such print submitted by Marshall to the Global Gift Gala charity auction recently hosted by Eva Longoria raised £24,000, helping victims of the typhoon in the Philippines.

Using his journalist nous Marshall has also ploughed through a mountain of backlogged media cherry picking quotes by Kate and pairing them to the images to punctuate the artwork. This combination of striking visuals and accompanying autobiographical statements serve to create a compelling storybook of Kate’s career.

Two life-size canvases of Kate, an edition of stainless steel acid photo etched images and one large 2×2 metre centrepiece will also be on display.

In the British press, Kate Moss is as famous for being the queen of cool and the ultimate party girl as she is for being an internationally recognised fashion mogul and iconic supermodel. Moss recently appeared in the January edition of Playboy magazine as a duel celebration of her 40th birthday and the 60th anniversary of the infamous publication.

This photo shoot has reportedly inspired Moss to use a Playboy theme for her star studded birthday bash where she has asked British singer Adele to perform. Moss is also rumoured to have recorded a song with her husband Jamie Hince of The Kills for the occasion.
