The 82nd Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo (14-19 January 2014) has a substantially modified route from last year’s edition with a return to the crowd favourite ‘Hautes-Alpes’ department.

Monte Carlo Rally

The rally, founded in 1911 by Prince Albert I, opens with a traditional departure ceremony taking place from Place du Casino on the 14th January with the famous ‘shakedown’ taking place the following day in the small town of Chateauvieux.

The official competition gets underway on the 16th January taking in a loop of three stages Orpierre, Rosans and Montauban sur l’Ouvèze, two legendary classics, Vitrolles and Selonnet, before a final leg on the 18th which explores the hinterland of Nice. The event concludes with a traditional awards ceremony on Sunday, 19th January in the square of the Prince’s Palace.

The rally is notorious for its difficult and demanding conditions putting as much emphasis on tactics as the driver’s ability. The challenging terrain, beautiful natural surroundings and prestige laid on by organisers Automobile Club de Monaco all add to what promises to be a spectacular experience for visitors.

For hardcore enthusiasts and petrolheads, the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique commences only a few days later, taking place from 22 to 29 January 2014.

The seventeenth edition of this nostalgic celebration of classic cars invites models that competed in the Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo between 1955 and 1980 and pays homage to the iconic Mini Cooper S.
