The first major tennis tournament of the year and the only Grand Slam in Asia and the Pacific returns to the hard courts of Melbourne Park from 13 to 26 January 2014.

The current batch of world tennis talent is widely regarded as the strongest line-up in the history of the sport. Defending champion Novak Djokovic faces daunting challenges from Swiss legend Roger Federer, three-time finalist Andy Murray and Spanish sensation Rafael Nadal who has been on scintillating form since his return from injury.

In the ladies singles competition, American Serena Williams is looking robust after picking up two majors in 2013, defending champion Victoria Azarenka has the experience of winning in Australia whilst Russian favourite Maria Sharapova will be determined to impress on her comeback.

The Australian Open 2014 boasts a revamped Margaret Court Arena following a $366 million dollar redevelopment with a new roof providing shade for spectators.
