Escape Europe’s chilly weather at the summer Sydney Festival, a sprawling collection of opera, dance, theatre and music acts comprising of 104 events across 372 performances throughout Australia’s most populous and vibrant city.

Band of Magicians

Theatrical highlights include the world premiere of Black Diggers, the story of 1,000 indigenous soldiers who fought in World War One and The Shadow King, Michael Kantor and Tom E. Lewis’s reimaging of King Lear.

Acclaimed choreographer Shaun Parker and composer Nick Wales present their arresting music and dance collaboration Am I and Henry Purcell’s romantic tragedy Dido & Aeneas gets an underwater makeover in a giant fish tank.

LIMBO

The new Festival Village replaces last year’s Festival garden tripling the size of the Hyde Park Festival hub. The extra space includes The Spiegeltent and Circus Ronaldo circus tents proving more room for music, late night cabaret and energetic acrobat displays as well as a wider selection of bars and a quiet chill-out zone.
