Visit the imperial state rooms of Vienna’s illustrious Hofburg on 31 December 2013 for ‘Le Grand Bal’, one of the world’s most extravagant New Year’s celebrations.
After arriving on the Heldenplatz, guests are received for a cocktail reception with an anthurium floral arrangement, special lighting design and elegantly bottled Guerlain perfume for the ladies and Xocolat treats for the gentlemen.
Once inside, soloists of the Vienna State Opera Ballet Association set the tone for the evening with a dynamically choreographed rendition of the Strauss polka Wo Man Lacht Und Lebt before guests take their seats for an exquisite gala dinner including a delicious hors d’oeuvres buffet and special Happy New Year cocktails.
During the meal a series of first class artistic highlights take place for your viewing pleasure including a debutants of the Elmayer School of Dance performance of Fächerpolonaise and a vivacious acrobatic display from ballet maestros Ketevan Papava and Eno Peci.
Later in the evening opera star Ildikó Raimondi and prominent soloists Anita Götz, Eugene Amesmann and Matjaž Stopinšek will dazzle audiences with aria performances from legendary composers such as Giuseppe Verdi and Giacomo Puccini.
As the clock approaches midnight guests are invited to take part in the ‘Blue Danube Waltz’ and the pealing of the famous Pummerin bell in St. Stephen’s Cathedral as a spectacular fireworks display paints the sky above. Afterwards The Divertimento Viennese Orchestra will play legendary hits from the roaring 20’s and swinging 30’s that capture the joie de vivre of this year’s ‘L’Esprit Viennois’ theme and carry revellers into the early hours of the morning.
Austrian President Heinz Fischer has assumed patronage for the event and is one of many high society dignitaries expected to attend.
