Rovinj is in the heart of gastronomic Croatia, where heady white truffles, freshly caught seafood, fish and Istrian prosciutto are washed down with exquisite Teran, Merlot or Istrian Malvasia, the local blossomy white wine.

The “Wine Roads of Istria” package is an excellent way to meet talented winemakers and indulge in world-class food and fine wine, while enjoying the Mediterranean’s mild climes. Over the half-day private excursion, guests are led through Istria’s mysterious inland in a luxury car to two boutique family-run wineries, where reds and whites made from the region’s main grape varieties − Teran, Istrian Malvasia, and Istrian Muscat − are presented with local delicacies, such as Istrian pršut (cured ham), cheeses and olive oil.

Tastings can be booked at two of three selected cellars, including Arman, Benvenuti, and Matošević ­– producer of three wines recently introduced by Isa Bal, one of the world’s top sommeliers, to Heston Blumenthal’s wine list at The Fat Duck.
