Azorean Culinary Adventures

The Azores archipelago is serving up a smoking hot culinary menu this autumn, offering visitors to the island of São Miguel the experience of dining in the crater of a sleeping volcano.

At the Terra Nostra Garden Hotel restaurant – which uses the heat of the island’s volcano to slow cook traditional Cozido Das Furnas meals – guests can enjoy traditional Azorean stew, with a vista of the beautiful gardens of the Terra Nostra Park, take a dip in beautiful natural thermal pools, or explore the park and gardens.

Culinary adventurers can continue with four other gastronomic Azorean delights – from enjoying lava stone seared seafood in Horta, to sampling the dishes of Azorean ancestors at Terceira’s 18th century farm Quinta Do Martelo. This working farm, restaurant and rural accommodation hidden in the heart of Terceira Island’s countryside offers quirky age-old Azorean cuisine and has been frequented by Portuguese celebrities seeking a retreat to a slower-paced way of life.
