The Oetker Collection, a prestigious portfolio of masterpiece hotels, has announced that it will be undertaking management supervision of Fregate Island Private in the Seychelles.
The utopian island benefits from 16 private pool villas nestled along the coastline, and the Banyan Hill Estate, which is perched on a hilltop overlooking a secluded peninsula providing guests with their own private butler, personal chef and maid.
The island also boasts seven beaches, one of which is frequently voted as the best in the world as well as a private island harbour, yacht club and PADI dive centre. Aside from the traditional sand bank style luxury islands typically found in the Indian Ocean, Fregate has numerous hiking trails such as nature walks through the jungle and granite rugged outcrops, to climbing the island’s highest peak, Mont Signal.
The luxury resort has a particular drive towards wildlife conservation and biodiversity. It is home to 2,000 free roaming Giant Aldabra Tortoises, 100 species of tropical birds including the endangered Magpie Robin and the plantation of tens of thousands of indigenous forest trees.
The innovative cuisine is also based on the exotic fruits and vegetables from the island’s own organically harvested plantations providing the best in quality produce. As well as being sustainable and cost effective, this also reduces the amount of supplies the island needs lending to the exclusive Robinson Crusoe ambience.
For marine lovers, there’s a wealth of colourful fish, coral reefs and crustaceans that can be observed snorkelling from the beach, and you can also expect to encounter the dolphins, mantra rays and even the occasional whale if you’re lucky enough.
