A new luxury hotel, the Andaz Papagayo, is scheduled to open in December this year. The hotel will feature 153 deluxe rooms, including 21 suites which all have spectacular views overlooking the Bay of Culebra, a 28-acre parcel of oceanfront. The hotel will also feature nine spa treatment rooms, four meeting rooms and three unique concept-restaurants with dishes based upon the finest regional ingredients.
The hotel is located on the Gulf of Papagayo (meaning gulf of the parrot) in the north west of Costa Rica. The Península Papagayo offers a multitude of activities including an 18-hole golf course, world class fishing, surfing and eco-adventures like zip-lining and white-water rafting. There are also cultural sites nearby, including the Palo Verde National Park, Monteverde Cloud Forest and Arenal Volcano.
Andaz Papagayo promises to completely renovate the face of Costa Rican design with an ambitious step away from the traditions that have defined architecture in the country over recent decades. Iconic Costa Rican architect Ronald Zurcher has developed a pre-colonial design which revels in blending organic, modern and indigenous concepts balanced against the country’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
