LINLEY unveils limited edition Velveteen Jewellery Box

LINLEY, a household name in British design, has revealed its latest collectors’ piece: a precious handmade jewellery box.

LINLEY Velveteen Jewellery Box

The Velveteen Jewellery Box is made from solid sycamore, with a rippled sycamore veneer that’s been dyed grey using a secret method known only to LINLEY’s craftsmen. Abalone mother of pearl is set into the veneer, while silver leaf adorns the outside. It’s finished with a smooth gloss giving it a velvet-like texture and shine. Inside, it’s lined with faux suede, while handmade cushions and hand stitched bows add soft luxurious touches.

The design was influenced by the illustrations of Erté (real name Romain de Tirtoff), a Russian-born French artist who between 1915 and 1926 contributed elaborate, show stopping designs to Harper’s Bazaar. The Velveteen Jewellery Box is a tribute to his designs and celebrates all things feminine and fashionable.

There are only 10 Velveteen Jewellery Boxes available, each taking over 100 hours to make, so it really is a desirable collectors’ item.
