Proving that you can never have too much of a good thing, COMO Hotels and Resorts has announced that its new resort ‘Maalifushi’, a unique private island tucked away on Thaa Atoll, will open in October 2013.
The eight-hectare island is the sister resort of Cocoa Island, largely considered to be the best the Maldives has to offer – until now. Built on a previously uninhabited and unspoilt island, the 66-villa property offers seclusion, luxury accommodation, fine dining, an abundance of underwater activities and the Maldives’ signature white sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets.
Guests can take advantage of a nearby sandbank for the true Robinson Crusoe experience whilst the main resort features tropical vegetation and exotic birdlife.
The resort also benefits from villas with interiors by Japanese designer Koichiro Ikebuchi, COMO Shambhala Retreat spa, gym, treatment rooms, yoga pavilion, pool and bar, dive centre with marine biologist. There are also two signature gourmet restaurants: ‘Madi’ and the overwater ‘Tai’ specialising in fresh, locally sourced seafood cuisine.
