The Churchill Bar & Terrace serves up delicious charity cocktail
By

The elegant Churchill Bar & Terrace, which opened at the end of 2012 in London’s Portman Square paying homage to one Britain’s most iconic figures, has teamed up with the Hastings Winkle Club charity to serve up a specially created cocktail, The Winkle.

Churchill Bar & Terrace

Formed in 1900 by fishermen in Hastings looking to raise money for deserving causes, the Hastings Winkle Club has a long list of beneficiaries that have been touched by donations over the last century. In 1955 the charity made Winston Churchill an honorary member, and it is with this in mind that the cocktail was created, celebrating the man, the charity and all things naval.

The cocktail itself is a blend of Pussers Rum – a traditional favourite with sailors and a brand issued to the Royal Navy for over 300 years, scurvy-curing lime juice, cider syrup and spices. Earl Grey tea is then added, symbolising the important trade routes of the East India Company, while a splash of England’s finest apple juice completes the creation.

This sweet and zingy summer cocktail is now available at The Churchill Bar & Terrace, with £1 from every drink bought going to the Hastings Winkle Club charity.
