Wine lovers, this one’s for you. The Extreme Wine Experience (22-28 June) is a luxury wine course and retreat held at La Verrière, a secluded hilltop vineyard in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Provence.
The highly sought after event is the brainchild of Clive Barlow MW, the Education Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine and Panel Chair for the International Wine Challenge. Next year’s edition features renowned chef Jon Chiri, formerly of the Michelin-starred restaurants in France and the United States.
The fully immersive five-day programme is widely recognised by many sommeliers and industry specialists as the best course of its kind in the world. You will receive first-class instruction with a hands-on approach in the vineyard whilst developing your tasting skills, refining your wine knowledge and appreciation from the soil to thegrape to the glass.
You will also leave with an official WSET Level 2 Award and Chêne Bleu (Art of Food and Wine Pairing) Certification making the Extreme Wine Experience the perfect balance between indulgence and insight.
Highlights of the week includes a Private Cellar Tour in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with a Dégustation lunch, gastronomic dinners, more than 120 super premium fine wines, airport transfer direct to La Verrière’s own helipad, the Wine Personality of the Year Awards topped off by a Red Carpet Wine Oscars and Black Tie Gala dinner.
In-between courses you can take full advantage of the amenities including tennis courts, an infinity pool overlooking glorious orchids and hiking to nearby Mt Ventoux, famous as the final stage of The Tour de France. It includes six nights’ luxury accommodation in the delightful 9th century medieval priory where you can socialise with fellow wine enthusiasts, enjoy views of the wild landscape and relax in the tranquil ambiance of the onsite lavender, sunflower, olives, grapes and apricot orchards.
