The Glenrothes Extraordinary Cask

Not known for normally releasing more than one single cask a year, Speyside whisky distillers The Glenrothes has responded to demand and enthusiasm from whisky fans worldwide with the launch of its Extraordinary Cask Collection.

The collection is a series of single cask bottles from the late 60s and early 70s, the first of which to be released is the The Glenrothes Single Cask 1970 #10573. Distilled on the 6th July 1970, the single malt has yielded 79 bottles, each of which will be distributed on allocation only.

The multi-faceted bottle is itself a work of art, made of hand-blown crystal with a polished brass plaque on the front, displaying the year of distillation and bottle number for authenticity. There is also a brass collar and stopper with wood from the very cask in which the whisky has been stored. Each bottle comes in a sleek leather case with a Scottish oak plinth for display as well.

The Glenrothes 1970 Extraordinary Cask will be available from Berry Bros. & Rudd and its representatives in key markets, starting at £3,000.00 per bottle. Visit the company’s website for more details.
