The charming coastal resort of Deauville plays host to international horse racing professionals as the Grand Prix de Deauville is contested at the Deauville-La Touques Racecourse on 28 August.
Lucien Barrière Grand Prix de Deauville is a 2,500 metre flat horse race where only thoroughbreds over the age of three are eligible to enter. The first race was run in 1866 under the original moniker of Coupe de Deauville.
The leading number of victories in the event is shared between, the now retired Yves Saint-Martin, and Dominique Boeuf with five wins a piece who won the title consecutively during 2006 and 2007 whilst jockeying the stallion ‘Irish Wells’.
