Each year the world’s best golf players convene on the greens of Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent for the coveted Claret Jug which is awarded to the winner of the British Open.

The British Open, taking place this year between 10 and 17 July, is the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf and the only ‘major’ held outside the USA.

This year’s Open will mark the tournaments 140th edition with current champion, Louis Oosthuizen, defending his title after victory in the 2010 Open Championship with a score of 16 under par.
